Accreditation
Students are confronted with a plethora of educational options, and for your organisation to stand out in a competitive market, it's crucial to entice them effectively.
CC&AA accreditation stands as a globally recognised hallmark of quality attained through a meticulous, objective audit of your processes, policies, and systems.
Renowned as the most experienced, rigorous, and independent accreditation service for the private education sector, CC&AA sets the standard that others strive to emulate.
Utilising a blend of self-evaluation and on-site inspections, we gauge success against our established benchmarks, fostering improvement and ensuring good practices throughout your organisation.
The CC&AA approach extends beyond mere auditing and approval; it integrates with a comprehensive strategy for quality assurance in the sector. Drawing from our extensive experience, we assist your institution in showcasing the quality of its provision, enhancing performance, and setting itself apart in the market.
In awarding accreditation, CC&AA serves four primary purposes:
Supporting and advising independent institutions of further or higher education in maintaining and enhancing their quality of provision.
Offering independent guidance to students seeking education beyond the state sector.
Providing assurance of an institution's good standing to government departments and other interested bodies.
Allowing an institution to publicly declare that it has voluntarily undergone independent inspection and satisfied CC&AA that all relevant aspects of its operation are maintained at a satisfactory level.
Accreditation with CC&AA is grounded in a comprehensive inspection of your institution's entire provision. We also require evidence demonstrating that your management upholds acceptable standards and complies with its legal obligations throughout the accreditation period.
Prospective institutions undergo an initial scrutiny by CC&AA staff during the application review stage. Following this, a rigorous inspection is conducted to assess your provision against the minimum standards outlined in the relevant scheme document. The Accreditation Committee reviews the inspection report and determines whether to award, defer, or refuse accreditation based on the evidence of meeting all minimum standards.
After thoroughly reviewing the information on our website, the Accreditation Handbook, and scheme documents, if you still have questions, feel free to contact our office via email or telephone. We regularly organise seminars to introduce prospective applicants to accreditation principles and delve deeper into the process; details of upcoming seminars are published on our website.
While our inspectors and staff strive to provide helpful advice, it's essential to recognize that we are primarily an inspection body. When applying for accreditation, be prepared to receive constructive criticism of your provision alongside positive comments on good practices.

Inspections
The primary mechanism for evaluating an institution's adherence to the accreditation standards involves a comprehensive on-site inspection carried out by independent inspectors, specifically appointed and trained by CC&AA. This meticulous process ensures that no institution receives accreditation or reaccreditation without a thorough examination of its educational provisions.
In addition to the routine inspections conducted for accreditation and reaccreditation applications, CC&AA organizes various other inspections to address specific circumstances, including:
Supplementary inspections for institutions facing deferred accreditation decisions.
Supplementary inspections for accredited institutions undergoing substantial changes.
Interim inspections for accredited institutions conducted during the accreditation period.
Spot checks of accredited institutions for CC&AA's ongoing monitoring and quality assurance purposes.
While these inspections are instrumental in determining an institution's eligibility for accreditation, they are also designed to serve a dual purpose. In addition to the evaluative aspect, our inspections aim to provide valuable advice and support within the institution's existing quality management framework. The inspectors engaged in these processes are distinguished educational experts possessing extensive sector knowledge. They are committed to sharing examples of best practices and offering constructive suggestions for continuous improvement, going beyond the minimum standards set by CC&AA.
Accreditation Committee Decision
The ultimate determination regarding accreditation is undertaken by the Accreditation Committee.
After inspections, the Accreditation Committee carefully reviews the inspection report. This committee is responsible for deciding whether to grant or deny accreditation, or to defer the decision pending additional information. We commit to notifying you of the Committee's decision within 10 working days following the Accreditation Committee's meeting. Additionally, we will provide you with a copy of the inspection report, and if accreditation or reaccreditation is approved, an accreditation certificate will be issued. The Accreditation Committee holds the authority, at its discretion, to delegate the consideration of reports to a sub-committee.
