CC&AA Accreditation Application Process
Institutions contemplating an application for accreditation with CC&AA should first familiarize themselves with the Accreditation Handbook. It is crucial to understand the application process, the required standard of provision, and the responsibilities associated with CC&AA accreditation.
Our head office staff will gladly provide you with a complimentary hard copy of the Accreditation Handbook, or you can download an electronic version here.
After thoroughly reviewing the handbook, assess whether you meet the eligibility criteria and standards. If questions persist, feel free to contact us before initiating your accreditation application.
CC&AA Accreditation Process
Accreditation with CC&AA is grounded in a comprehensive inspection of your institution's entire provision. We also require evidence demonstrating that your management upholds acceptable standards and complies with its legal obligations throughout the accreditation period.
Prospective institutions undergo an initial scrutiny by CC&AA staff during the application review stage. Following this, a rigorous inspection is conducted to assess your provision against the minimum standards outlined in the relevant scheme document. The Accreditation Committee reviews the inspection report and determines whether to award, defer, or refuse accreditation based on the evidence of meeting all minimum standards.
After thoroughly reviewing the information on our website, the Accreditation Handbook, and scheme documents, if you still have questions, feel free to contact our office via email or telephone. We regularly organise seminars to introduce prospective applicants to accreditation principles and delve deeper into the process; details of upcoming seminars are published on our website.
While our inspectors and staff strive to provide helpful advice, it's essential to recognize that we are primarily an inspection body. When applying for accreditation, be prepared to receive constructive criticism of your provision alongside positive comments on good practices.
Application, Inspection, and Accreditation Timings
Below is a timeline for new and re-accreditation applications:
Research and preparation by the institution.
Submission of the institution's application for accreditation.
CC&AA reviews the application form and supporting documentation.
Arrangement of an inspection in consultation with the institution.
Submission of the institution's self-evaluation documentation against defined criteria.
Conduction of the inspection by a specialist inspection team.
Submission of the inspection report to CC&AA.
Consideration of the inspection report by the Accreditation Committee.
Notification to the institution of the Accreditation Committee's decision.
If any cut-off date is missed for any reason, your inspection report may be considered in the next Accreditation Committee meeting. The application process may take several weeks to ensure proper scrutiny. If additional information or documentation is requested, prompt responses are encouraged to minimise processing delays.
